We’ve been busy. And, as a result, 2019 has been a very good year for the NSS-CDS. Membership is at an all-time high, as is attendance at our various conferences and events. There is a new sense of energy throughout the organization, along with the feeling we are making some very positive changes. Here is what we’ve accomplished in just the past month.
Major standards revision
At its September 9 meeting, the NSS-CDS Board of Directors approved one of the most significant training standards upgrades in the past several decades. The new standards fundamentally change how students will become certified Cave Divers through the CDS. Among their goals:
- Raise the bar for entering Cave Diver training.
- Help ensure CDS Cave Divers master more in the way of knowledge and skills.
- Better reflect how today’s cave instructors actually teach.
- Give instructors more flexibility in how they teach.
A new look
At its September 9 meeting, the Board also approved:
- A revision to the existing NSS-CDS logo which uses more modern and soothing colors.
- An alternate, block-letter logo we can use in situations where the old logo may not be large enough to be legible. This often occurs in digital media.
The new logos appear at the top of this page.
NSS-CDS at DEMA
