Cave 1 – Intro to Cave – Apprentice Cave Diver

The Apprentice Cave Diver course is designed to provide the diver with the skills and knowledge needed to gain experience and minimize risks while conducting limited-penetration, simple navigation cave dives that do not exceed 30m (100 ft) in depth.  Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are considered competent to plan and execute limited-penetration, simple cave dives without direct supervision, provided the diving environment, activities, areas dived, and equipment are approximate to those of training.

Certification is through NSS-CDS, NAUI, TDI, IANTD.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have 50 or more logged dives
  • Be certified to the Intro to Tech level or equivalent experience
  • Possess Nitrox Diver certification

Students will dive either backmounted doubles or sidemount and should have prior training and/or significant experience in the configuration of choice. 

  • The Intro to Cave course generally takes five to six days and approximately eight dives.
  • With sufficient notice, we can usually accommodate requests for specific course dates.
