Cavern and Cave Diver Training
Cavern and Cave Diver training are my favorite activities. This section contains detailed information about all aspects of overhead training, including course descriptions, fees, scheduling and equipment (see links at right). But Wait! Before you begin, however, it is important to understand that every student’s needs are different. You most likely fall somewhere between two extremes:
Depending on your individual needs, you may wish to take each course a step at a time, with experience dives before progressing to the next level — or you may seek a more comprehensive program. Unfortunately, reading the descriptions of the available courses may only create more questions than it answers. That’s why it is important you contact me, tell me about your goals and experience, along with any other needs you may have. With this information, I can recommend a custom-tailored program that best suits your individual needs. Again, no two divers are the same. That’s why it is important you go with a program that is right for you. Please note that I do not offer a continuous eight-day Cavern-through-Full-Cave program. I feel strongly that issues of diver safety and cave conservation dictate against this type of “Zero to Hero” training approach and that such programs are a substantial disservice to the student diver, the cave environment and the general cave diving community. If you desire a Cavern through Full Cave program, I require additional personal practice dive and rest days be scheduled as the course progresses. The specifics of your course must be discussed prior to scheduling this series of courses. It is important to understand that this program is highly rigorous and demanding — both physically and mentally — and not every diver who begins will complete to the Full Cave Diver level.
